Author: Carole Schaefer is an award winning children's book author. She has over twenty picture books published.

Publisher: Viking Juvenile (2006)

Brief Synopsis: This is a book about children in grade school. The children create a dragon together as a class. After their teacher reads them the book about dragons, they create their own dragon as a class. They then go on an adventure with the dragon, overseas, to mountaintops, through the forests, soft marches, whispery meadows, and under sweet cherry blossom trees until they hear their teacher calling them to come back.

Theme/Skill: Imagination/Language Arts/ Chinese Culture/Multi-Culture

Pre-activity: As a class we will discuss the word adventure by creating a concept map. Then we will talk about different adventures that the students have gone on in the past.

Post-activity:
After reading the story I would have the students think of an adventure they would go on and create a timeline that they would go along with their adventure. Taking you through the day of their own imaginary adventure.

My Refection of the book persuading people to read it:
This is a great way to introduce the dragon Chinese culture. I feel this is a great story for students to read because of the imaginary adventure that takes place. I feel this will help the students become creative and think outside the box after they read this story.
